Fandom Stars Wiki

Hey y'all!

As we dive into a month of community roundtables, I would challenge Stars to consider trying something different. Below, you'll see"challenges" designed for anyone and everyone in the program. Whether you contribute to a larger or smaller community or prefer a personal challenge, I've created something for you this month. Please be as creative as you'd like! I understand that all Wikis are different as their communities function differently, but I'd love to hear how you've decided to take these challenges and make them your own. Read on to learn how to participate and why you should participate, and please reach out for questions or support!

This August, I'm inviting all Fandom Stars to ignite their communities with fresh activity. Choose one (or more!) of the following challenges to inspire your fellow editors:

The Community Challenge[]

By emphasizing personal growth, connection, and creative adaptation, the challenge remains inclusive and rewarding for all Fandom Stars, regardless of their wiki's size or activity level. This is an opportunity to create a new activity or content.

Community Focus:[]

  1. Discuss: Initiate a brand-new discussion or thread on a topic that has yet to be explored. This could be a question about an aspect of your fandom, a debate about a character's actions, or a brainstorming session for future wiki projects.
  2. Edit: Dive into the heart of your wiki and make a significant edit. This could be expanding a stub article, adding detailed information to an existing page, or even revamping the wiki's main page.
  3. Community Catalyst: Lead your community in planning a special event. This could be a celebration of a milestone within your fandom, an awareness campaign for an important cause, or a simple way to recognize the hard work of your fellow editors.
  4. Spotlight: Share your knowledge and passion by writing a blog post. This could be a personal reflection on your experience as a Fandom Star, an update on recent discussions within the Fandom Star program, or any other topic that would interest your community.

Leadership Challenge:[]

The spirit of the challenge is about growth, engagement, and trying something new. Solo editors can absolutely embody this, even without a large community. We wanted to create various challenges that support editors at every level. This is an opportunity to explore and evolve!

Personal Growth Focus:[]

  • Deep Dive Edit: Instead of rallying a community, focus on making a substantial improvement to a single article or section. This could involve extensive research, adding multimedia elements, or restructuring for clarity.
  • Reflection: Write a blog post detailing the editing process to support newer editors on the platform, challenges faced with smaller wikis, and lessons learned. This not only showcases dedication but also provides valuable insights for other solo editors.
  • Event Modification: Instead of a full-scale community event, create a personal challenge (e.g., "Edit-a-thon" for yourself). Share your progress and invite others to join if they're interested. Think of something like “30 days of edits,” and that might be the push a new editor needs to enjoy Fandom as much as you do!

Why Participate?[]

  • Revitalize Your Community: Energize your wiki by encouraging editors to try something new.
  • Strengthen Connections: Build stronger bonds with your fellow editors by collaborating on a shared project.
  • Showcase Your Leadership as a Star: Demonstrate your leadership as a Star and encourage your community's growth.
  • Learn and Grow: Expand your skills and knowledge by taking on a new challenge.

How to Participate:[]

  1. Choose Your Challenge: Select the activity that most excites you and your community.
  2. Spread the Word: Share the challenge with your community and lead the charge. Encourage your fellow editors to join in the fun!
  3. Share Your Progress: Keep your community updated on your progress throughout the month. Share screenshots, blog posts, or highlight the amazing work you're doing.
  4. Celebrate Your Success: At the end of the month, take a moment to reflect on your accomplishments and celebrate the collective effort of your community. This could even become a recurring activity.

Bonus Challenge:[]

For those Fandom Stars who are feeling extra ambitious, consider sharing your experiences and insights for a Fandom Star roundtable. This could be a great way to keep your fellow Stars informed and involved in the broader Fandom landscape. If enough Stars have participated, I'll add a bonus roundtable to the calendar, and we'll discuss your experience!
